So I was diagnosed in November of 23. The crazy thing is, I was seeing my personal physician for prescription refilled. She had warned me about taking these tests as preventative medicine. And wouldnt refill my meds until I at least did one. I had put off going to her for 6 months because I was always busy. But I did the chest x ray and then CT scan. I found out I had a tumor on my upper left lung. And by November 10th I was having surgery and removal of the upper left lobe. In Jan of 2024 I started chemo. Did 4 rounds of intense chemo, and finished up in March. I was told in May, that I was all cleared. But I continued to get worse. I had pain starting in my back, going under my arm on my left side and into my chest. It got so bad I couldn't do anything without pain and lack of oxygen. Over and over I went in to my oncologist, but he thought it was my heart. So then began a series of tests on my heart. Meanwhile the pain was getting intense and my Sr prescribed me meds that I could get over the counter. I actually after researching my situation for days, came up with plural effusion. Nobody would listen. It was exactly that. Or at least I had one. I had it drained and felt better for a couple days. But soon the pain was back. It was so bad I couldn't lie down to take CT scan Or MRI. They sent the fluid in from the drain for testing. And after a couple weeks, it came back positive for metastatic lung cancer. The Dr prescribed Fentanyl patches and oxycodone for my pain. He wanted to do CT and MRI on brain bone and complete middle section. He also started me on new chemo pill Afatinib. 40mg once a day. After only 2 weeks of being on this pill, I did CT scan and he told me I was in complete remission. I was overwhelmed. Just 2 weeks before, he told me I had 6 months to a year to live. Now I'm still in pain with the same thing I had all along. It is way better, but mostly due to the Fentanyl. I quit taking oxycodones. It was to much. But I tried stopping the patch to see if it was better. And after 2 days I hurt so bad, I didn't do anything but lay in bed. So now I'm back on the patch, and confused. No brain scan, no bone or anything except abdomen and mid section. But I'm in complete remission. How long does remission last?
