Beating lung cancer

To make a long story short, I was diagnosed with stage 4 in December 2021. The cancer metastasized to digestive organs and especially my esophagus. The tumor was encroaching on my esophagus.I couldn't swallow or eat, lost 20 lbs , and went through hell with chemo. Then I spent two years getting Keytruda.
In September following my pet scan my doctor told me I was in remission and I rang the bell
Now I have gone 3 months without treatment, and had another PET scan end of December. I saw my doctor last week and she said I am still in remission .
With each scan, the tumor was shrinking at varying degrees. Now both the radiologist and my doctor stated the the tumor was not seen on the scan (for the first time since the biopsy three years ago.
I don't know what the secret is, but I went for hydration on a regular basis and prayed a lot to be healthy again. Having a positive attitude toward healing helped me a lot. Just keep fighting, don't give up.
I am proof that this is a winnable battle .

    1. Wow !! This is SUCH an inspirational post. AND CONGRATS! FYI, when I started my cancer journey in September (diagnosed in late October), I read (somewhere on the internet) about someone who had Stage 4 lung cancer, started taking Keytruda when it was first approved by the FDA and, ten years later is still No Evidence of Cancer.

I'm a relatively early-ish stage (IIIa--only one lymph node is involved and it's right near my nodule) and am starting Keytruda with my chemo on Thursday. Congrats again, Rich! And thanks for posting! This made my day.

      1. Yes, this is an encouraging update. Wishing you the very best in your journey as well!
