Lung Cancer Commercials

With the new treatment options approved and on shelves...do you see these commercials as helpful in dissecting exactly what the medication is supposed to do? Do you find them hopeful or confusing?

  1. I find they are geared more towards Non Small cell, very little to Small cell.

    1. I agree, I don't think I have seen a commercial for small cell lung cancer. I see many Keytruda and Opdivo commercials for non-small cell lung cancer, hopefully now that they are approved for small cell also, we may see that in the commericials soon. All the best, Alisa

    2. Interesting point as sometimes there is no specific call out as to what stage is referenced. A better job I suppose can be done when specifying for the newly diagnosed or those relapsed or others.

  2. It seems that the commercials are of the most expensive meds that are out there. They all seem to want you to pressure your doctor into prescribing them.
Much like the call to get these new medicare benefits when it's not open enrollment time. Anybody have the benefit that adds back money to your check? I find them annoying as hell. Maybe meds would be affordable if they didn't spend millions $ advertising something you can't buy for yourself!

    1. I find the Medicare Advantage Plan commercials annoying, too! Thank you for sharing with our community. Wishing you all the best, Alisa, LungCancer.net Team Patient Leader

    2. It's really an interesting point as you would hope the doctor is aware of the treatment options, but some are not. Again this is where the advocacy comes in the conversation, with that said it's a shame, as you feel you may need a med degree to decipher a lot of the information that is out there. As for the drugs being so expensive, it may be a mixture of why such enormous prices for medications. Best!

  3. Well, it's a mix of something alright.
I have bought drugs for my copd that cost $450 here and in the Philippines the same drug is $50.
Legalized robbery supported by the US government is a big part of that mix.
    Cheers

    1. Wow that is a massive difference. Yep sounds, looks, and smells like a hot mess. Best!

  4. I found, biomagnetism therapy effective for lung cancer conditions and healing it with much better improvement. My Aunty used to practice it.

    1. Hi , I never heard about biomagnetism therapy for lung cancer, I will be reading about it, thanks for commenting! Wishing you all the best, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader

    2. I think the question here is options. I'm glad you found something that works for you. Best!
