Speculated Lung Nodules

New to the group. So I was sick the week before Christmas (RSV) and ended up at urgent care and they did a chest x-ray for Pneumonia which was negative, however it came back showing a nodule and thickening. Next stop was a CT scan which showed the following:

Mild to moderate biapical pleural parenchymal thickening with extended nodular densities into the lung parenchyma. These nodular densities appear irregular and spiculated measuring up to 11 mm left apex and 13 mm right apex. Tree-in-bud nodules right middle lobe measuring up to 5 mm. 9 mm right lower lobe nodule. No pleural effusion or pneumothorax..

How scared should I be???

  1. Hi welcome to our community! I am so glad you found us. I hope you find our site to be a safe environment where our members share and support each other. I can understand how this would be very overwhelming and scary. While we are not medical professionals, I hope our community can comment here with their experiences. When is your next doctor appointment? Has your doctor gone over the results with you of your scan? This is a lot to take in and we are here for you throughout this journey. Sending you lots of hugs and strength. Jill, lungcancer.net team

    1. It is normal to feel scared, the unknown is scary. I was originally diagnosed 23 years ago and remember how overwhelming and scary it was like it was yesterday. Thankfully, if it is anything concerning, there have been so many advances now then there were back in my day, hope is real! A few years ago my scan mentioned "tree in bud" but that has since resolved and I can't remember what my doctor told me about it since it is not a concern now. Did you doctor tell you what your next steps will be? You may want to make a list of questions to ask. We have many articles written by our Editorial Team as well as other patient members like myself. I'm attaching an article below that explains some diagnositic procedures and tests. Hopefully this will give you some information and help you formulate questions for your medical care team. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to post more articles. Please reach out anytime, we are here for each other. Sending cyber hugs! Warmly, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader
