Signs

Did you experience certain signs or callouts that you may have had lung cancer?

  1. I did not have "typical" symptoms so my primary care doctor kept sending me home with instructions to take ibuprofen --- for about a year! I wrote an article about how I finally got diagnosed and my unusual symptoms: https://lungcancer.net/living/delayed-diagnosis
I never connected them with lung cancer.

    1. I believe it has to start with the primary care doctors, they need more awareness! Thanks for question and for starting this important discussion.

    2. You're welcome Alisa. I'm always curious about others' experiences as my mom had an interesting and short wave of things. Best!

  2. I had a dry cough for 3 months. A young urgent care doctor had me do lab work, CXR and sent me to a pulmonologist. 2 weeks later diagnosed with stage 4 NSCLC.
DEVASTATING news: treatment began. I take oral chemo due to a mutation in cancer. I have done very well. Had my first chemo mouth sores this week. I was diagnosed March 20 2023. I have metastasis to brain No symptoms yet. Testing planned to proceed to next step. It's alot!!!

    1. I know how devastating and overwhelming the news can be, but glad you are doing well on your targeted treatment. Please keep us posted and let us know what your medical care team plans for your brain met. Perhaps cyberknife/targeted radiation. I know many that had radiation for brain mets and are doing well. Will be looking for updates! Warmly, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader

    2. I can only imagine this rollercoaster you're on. Despite everything, It's good to hear treatment has gone relatively well. Wishing you the very best in this new normalcy. Please let us know how you're doing or if you have any questions along the way. Best and Prayers!
