Lung nodules

Hi again. I was posting in my status instead of here. So let me quickly again state that they found 3 lung nodules while having X-ray on shoulder injury 3 yrs ago..I was told most like scar tissue from lung infection. Measured 2mm. 1 year later returned for Cat scan and was informed I know have 6 nodules which know called ground glass nodules. Still under 3mm.
Last month went again and now have 8 nodules , 1 of which was called a different name can’t remember but is 5mm .
So what does all this mean?
Dr simply said nothing at all to worry about. Come back in 1 yr for another scan.
Then get letter from scan place saying Dr wants another scan ASAP!
Is this something I should worry about?
Also dealing with husband who has heart failure and COPD so could these nodules be stress related?
Hoping the answer is yes but would love some feedback if anyone has idea or suggestions!
Have a good night all and thank you in advance,
Vikki

  1. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this, Vikki. I don't believe the nodules are stress related, although stress can do a lot to one's body. My original tumor never came back (diagnosed 21 years ago with Stage 3b) but for the past 10 years or so I've had ground glass nodules being monitored. One recently made a movement and I had to have the nodule surgically removed and the report came back positive for lung cancer, adenocarcinoma, but a different subtype than my first diagnosis, this was a second primary. Sometimes the nodules stay stable our whole lives, sometimes they make a movement, like one of mine did. Personally, after the scan they just called you in for, I would get a copy of all my scans as well as the written reports and get a second opinion from a comprehensive cancer center. Please keep us posted, we are here for you! Warmly, Alisa, LungCancer.net Team

    1. where can I go to have someone only give an opinion on cat scans? I don’t want to go have series of tests.. is this possible?

    2. I was able to, I live in NYC and have a set of doctors at one hospital, but always send my scans to another doctor at another cancer center to make sure I have two eyes looking at my scans from separate institutions. I suggest choosing a thoracic dr. from another cancer center and call and ask if you send the films and written reports that go with the films, can you please have a second opinion consultation, either in person, or by video health. Does that sound like something you may want to try?

  2. Thank you so much for the info. Better to be safe then sorry for sure!

    1. I agree!

  3. Hi sorry you've found yourself on here. I had a lung cancerwith several affected lymph nodes. I had 35 radiotherapy and 2 chemo sessions. I used a website called Ankr (my.ankr.us) to learn about side effects because it was too hard to keep track of everything. My doctor had recommended it but I think you can sign up for free. I am now a few months post radiotherapy and living my life.
