Lung cancer and tagrisso

I had to go off of tagrisso for a month due to a knee replacement surgery. My next pet scan they found a spot on my lung. They said it was too small yet to biopsy so they would see if it increased in size by the next PET scan. I went back on to tagrisso after a month as the surgeon suggested and on my next PET scan the spot on my lung was gone. As of February 2025 I will have been on tagrisso three years and my oncologist said that it is suggested by the FDA that people discontinue after three years. Because of the fact that I went off of it and they found a spot, it scares me to stop tagrisso.st I can't find anything about why on the Internet. Does anyone know why?

  1. Hi I was able to find that NCCN Guidelines recommends (TAGRISSO) for a duration of 3 years as an adjuvant treatment option: https://www.tagrissohcp.com/resectable/adaura/dosing.html. However, I could not find exactly why. In this article, it says you can take it for three years or as long as possible: https://www.webmd.com/lung-cancer/tagrisso-non-small-cell-lung-cancer. I would definitely ask your doctor about this as they hopefully will be able to better answer this question. Please keep us posted. Jill (Team Member)

    1. This is so very interesting! Yes, I would agree as per Jill to have an open conversation with your doctor on the why and how so. There may be a deeper reason for the intake limit, perhaps the doctor can explain if this is for every patient prototype or specific cases. Wishing you the very best in getting the correct answers and directions.
