I heard exercise is good for those going through chemo, that it helps. Of course what you can tolerate. Has anyone else hear about this and done this and has it helped? I’m starting chemo on August 1st in two days 😳 thank you.

Hi Deb, I've read many journal articles and research how exercise can help keep the body stronger while going through treatment. I religiously went to the gym during my treatments and I feel it helped with my energy. Not everyone is in the position to be able to excerise, but even baby steps can help. I'm attaching a link below to an article written by our Editorial Team that has some information on exercise and cancer. Thanks for bring up this important subject. Hi Deb, I'm a Certified Performance Trainer and would say this should be a conversation you bring up with your doctor first before starting any exercise program. Have an open conversation on what you would like to do and then see if your doctor signs off in doing so. Based on the doctor's feedback is how you move forward with exercise while on treatment. Wishing you the very best!

I have undergone 4 sessions of chemo with Carboplatin and Pemetrexed and my bone metastasis and lung lesions are all greatly reduced again and I have been put on maintenance chemo with only Pemetrexed every 3 weeks. So, good luck with your treatment! I have been doing walking every day throughout my chemo.
My oncologist said walking is the best exercise which can be done by anyone and I have been doing it ever since my diagnosis in January, 2021. Earlier to my diagnosis, I had been doing yoga with Suryanamaskar. But I stopped it after I found that the back pain I had then was because of the bone lesions in my spine, shoulder and numerous other places in the skeleton. The bone lesions might have even caused fractures, had I continued with strength training!
