Can a person's lungs heal if they were a long time smoker?

And will they survive?

  1. Hi thanks for reaching out. We are not medical professionals and each person's health and medical history is unique, so this is a hard question for us to answer. I would encourage you to speak to your doctor about this, if you haven't done so already, as they would know your personal medical background the best. In the meantime, I am sending over this article, I hope it is helpful. Jill, lungcancer.net team https://lungcancer.net/living/rewards-quitting-smoking-nutshell

    1. I also encourage you to have this discussion with your doctors. I was getting ready to post an article for you, but I see Jill already posted it. If you scroll down, there is a section on the health benefits of quitting. Please know this community is here to support you, reach out anytime. Wishing you all the best, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader

        1. Yes, a person's lungs can begin to heal after they quit smoking, even if they have been a smoker for a long time. The body's natural healing processes begin to work as soon as the harmful effects of smoke stop.

To help quit smoking, I personally found that using Nicotinell was very effective. It has made the process much more manageable for me. However, it is crucial to only use high quality medications from trusted pharmacies to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Remember, quitting smoking not only helps your lungs heal, but also greatly improves your overall health and chances of survival. Stay strong and take it one step at a time!

          1. thanks for sharing with us and I am glad that Nicotinell was helpful for you. I had to slightly edit your above post to take out the link of where you bought Nicotinell. We love for our members to share what has helped them but as per our Community Rules we can not share links that sell anything. Thanks for your understanding. Jill (Team Member)

          2. Totally agree! It's never too late to stop smoking when in treatment- it helps the process of treatment. Thank you for sharing.
