Experiences with prophylactic cranial irradiation?

Hello I am looking for your experience with radiation to the brain after you were treated with chemo and chest radiation for LS-SCLC. Just finished up chemo and radiation to chest and have an appt. with radiation doctor who will most likely suggest brain radiation but it scares me so looking for help thank you!

  1. Hello, I'm sure this is a scary time with all of these overwhelming procedures. My mom's cancer also spread to the brain, and I recall a few rounds of radiation.

Check out a few posts on the matter- wishing you the best. Please review with your oncologist all the questions you may have on this.

    1. Hi , I wanted to check in with you and see how you're doing. How was your experience with the prophylactic cranial irradiation? I'm sorry there was no reference when you were beginning. - How are you doing today? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

      1. That's so nice of you. I didn't do it because doctor said he felt I did not need it. I'm still dealing with the permanent side effects from chemo. Things like brain fog, neuropathy, weakness, weigh gain, emotional changes, hearing loss. Worried about a recent mammogram they want me to repeat in 6 mos. Loss of my life partner of 27 years at Christmas 2024 before that it was my only child passed at age 44 so it's a lot of emotional so the physical stuff doesn't help. I just try to be positive about things. I hope you are well.

        1. Thank you. Your words mean a lot.

        2. , you're welcome ❤️Please do keep in touch. Have a wonderful weekend! - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)
