Starting a 4 treatment Chemotherapy treatment

Hello,
6 weeks ago I had a lobectomy for stage 1 cancer, they than found metastatic cancer in 1 lymp node out of 20 removed which moved to stage 2. They say they removed all the cancer but better chance of it not returning with chemo. Still recovering from that and now starting my 1st treatment of chemo Monday (in 2days) 10 min of Premetrexed and 158 min of Cisplatin. Any tips on what I should expect? Doctor said I would loose my hair and the nurse said I won’t, everything I read is horrible with vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, nurse says my biggest problem will be constipation and fatigue. Who to believe?? So confused and nervous. Any tips or advise?

  1. Wishing you the very best today in treatment. The thing with treatment is everyone is different, and the best the medical team can advise is the probability of what may or may not happen. If you're comfortable doing so, ask your doctor or social worker if they can refer you to support group resources. It may be helpful to hear other people's similar walks and how they are coping. Best!

    1. Thank you so much

  2. I also had a lobectomy and chemo treatments (carboplatin and taxol - 23 years ago). I did lose my hair and had some fatigue. Everyone is different so it is hard to say how the side effects will be for you. I suggest keeping a list of effects to discuss with your doctor but I hope the treatments are not too harsh for you. I am attaching a link to an article written by our Editorial Team that I hopes helps. Please know we are here for you, reach out anytime. Warmly, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader
