Stage 3 small cell

Has anybody had the treatment ciplatin and epotiside for stage 3 small cell

  1. Hi . I can't personally speak to these treatments, but our contributor Diane wrote about taking Cisplatin here: https://lungcancer.net/living/managing-chemo. If you click on her name with the article you can find her other articles where she also wrote about treatment. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences. Wishing you the best. Richard (LungCancer.net Team)

    1. I was diagnosed 22 years ago with Stage 3b, but I had carboplatin and taxol. Perhaps if you post your question to our forums once again someone familiar with this combination will see it and join in on the discussion. Warmly, Alisa, LungCancer Team Patient Leader

      1. I have limited stage sclc and received 4 rounds of cisplatin and etopiside with 3 weeks off between treatments as well as radiation at the same time. I finished chemo in July and just had 1st PET scan post treatment. Oncologist and radiologist were both pleased with the results of treatments as cancer had shrunk significantly.

        1. Hi . It is wonderful to hear that you have had these results. Your doctors probably already told you this, but permit me this opportunity to note for everyone out there that multiple studies have found the combination cisplatin and etopiside superior as a first-line treatment for SCLC than other alternatives (see: here for an example: https://ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/JCO.2002.12.111). Wishing you the best and please feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing. Richard (LungCancer.net Team)

        2. I had the exact same treatment. Diagnosed with limited stage SCLC October 2019. 4 rounds of cisplatin and 33 radiation finished in February 2020 then of course March 2020 the world shut down due to Pandemic. Doctor says staying stable, have to still get CT scans every 6 months. Long term side effects overwhelming fatigue like never in my life, major peripheral neuropathy, ringing in ears, some mild kidney damage, overall pain, cognitive function declined (but that could just be natural aging process who knows) and of course the anxiety/depression and financial stuff. Once my hair grew back I felt a little better. How are you doing now?

      2. NED in December and biopsy after March PET was not cancerous. Brain MRIs continue to be good. I feel great! I tried to grow my hair out, but decided to keep it very short. I really liked being bald and not dealing with hair, so keeping it very short works for me now.
Thanks for reaching out and let’s stay in touch. I’m not sure what schedule my radiologist and oncologist will have me on at this point.

        1. Wishing you the very best!
