How do you cope?

Waiting on biopsy for lung cancer. Just found out I also have blood clots inlegs. On blood thinner does it work? See cancer Dr. for first appt Friday.

  1. I am sorry you have to have a biopsy and may have lung cancer. Thankfully there have been many treatment advances lately so hope is real. Many lung cancer patients have gotten blood clots that were resolved with blood thinners. All the best with your upcoming appointment, please feel free to update us, we are here to share and support each other. All the best, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader

    1. Thank you,Alisa, I appreciate your help. I will keep you updated.

      1. Great news, Dr says I may not have cancer. Wants to do a Broncoscopy and PET scan which sounds ok. I do have a mass but hops for best. I need some advice on how to calm down and not snap at my wife. She is my support and I feel that sometimes I forget we are happily married over 20 years! Thank you for listening such a relief.

    2. Hi . So glad you were checked for the clots. Deep vein thrombosis in the legs can be serious, but is also treatable. If your biopsy were to come back positive for lung cancer (hopefully not), it is best that the doctors are aware of the clots and can treat you accordingly. Wishing you the best and please know that this community is here for you. Richard (LungCancer.net Team)

      1. Thanks for the support. Will have a Broncoscopy and Pet test. Dr said it may not be cancer. So am hopeful. I need help for coping with my wife, she is very supportive, but I seem to be short tempered. I try to be quiet but sometimes I will say something stupid.

        1. Hi, it is very encouraging to hear it may not be cancer. Glad the doctors are following up with a broncoscopy and PET scan, that should give more information. As for coping, that's a tough one .... Breathwork (you can youtube various methods of breathwork for stress, relaxation, etc.) helps me calm down. Were you always short-tempered with your wife or is this something new with what you are going through? A possible diagnosis of lung cancer can cause so much stress. Thinking of you both! ~ Alisa

        2. So happy to hear the news this may not be lung cancer. I'm sure this is a very stressful time of the unknowing, but some of the suggestions mentioned prior in breathing and relaxation tend to work, and based on your latest comments it has. Wishing you the very best!
