follow up scans

My husband just had his six week follow up and scans. What does it mean when the doctor tells you there is no change in CT after twenty-five days of radiation? Are they trying to not come right out and say that he is no better than he was before the radiation?

  1. That sounds confusing to me. I'm not sure if your doctor means you have no change as far as inflammation in your lungs from radiation or no change in the nodules/tumors, meaning stable. I feel this is something that should be discussed with your husband's doctor and ask him to be more specific in his explanation. Unfortunately, oftentimes we have to be our own advocates and ask questions. It helps to write thoughts down as they come to you so you have a list to refer to at the next appointment. Please feel free to update us, we are here for you both! Warmly, Alisa, LungCancer.net Team Patient Leader

    1. I agree

  2. Since his next appointment isn't until August, I am going to call them. My family needs an answer. He is scheduled for a PET in August so it sounds like the radiation was not successful. I just got the appointment notice in the mail yesterday.

    1. Yes, indeed call and have them clarify the findings. It can be so frustrating when they tend to use language as if it's clear what they are trying to say. Ask them to explain in layman's terms...what is going on? I'm sorry your husband, you, and your family is going in circles figuring out what this all means. Please let us know how this turns out. Wishing you the very best!
