What was your diagnosis like?

What was your lung cancer diagnosis like? Did you have symptoms before your diagnosis?

  1. My diagnosis was terrible 😢. I was just trying to get over my breast cancer and they tell me they see a spot on my lung. This was not a result of the breast cancer it was just a new one. I asked if it could be removed and they said I would have to wait till it grew bigger. As a result in 2018 I had stage 1 small cell lung cancer. I had a vats lobectomy to upper lobe of the lung. I had no treatments. I go every 6 months for ct scan , although I don’t know why but I do as I’m told.
My only symptom was loss of weight and always pale. I’m glad to be alive and well and I wish for all of you in this forum to hang in there and to remember that cancer is not always a life sentence. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

  2. Oops a death sentence!!

    1. Got ya!

  3. I’m newly diagnosed. First visit with the oncologist tomorrow. I’m hoping to come out of it with a better idea of what I’m facing. I’ve known something was wrong in January. Pain kept throbbing under my right rib cage or sometimes the back or front. Kept telling my primary something was wrong. So they gave me some antibiotics since they saw nothing on X-ray. I finally pushed them for bloodwork and then had to educate the new one that those numbers could indicate lung cancer. Still took 2 1/2 months to get them to refer me to the pulmonologist who immediate sent me for a CT scan when I described my symptoms.

    1. Wow Bruce, All I can say is that I'm so very happy to hear that you pushed your doctors in further testing. Some people don't do that until is totally too late. Though the news is not what you expected, you advocating and speaking up that something doesn't feel right is such a huge deal. Great news that you're going to be in touch with a Pulmonologist. I hope the conversation is promising and gives you the details you need to move forward, as well as possibly seeking more options in Oncologist as well.
      Wishing you the very best!
