Traveling

I am in my 9th injection on Keytruda and the end of this month my daughter wants me to travel 1600 miles to my grandsons wedding. She wants to drive straight thru .... any thoughts on this...?

Diane in WI > NC.....

  1. Hi jigsawlady,

Thank you for your question! We always recommend speaking through travel recommendations with your healthcare provider or team, since they will know more about your body and individual case and can offer more specific individual recommendations.

In addition to any travel tips that the community may have for long drives, we would recommend if you do take the trip to make sure you are able to take any breaks you feel you need, and to stay hydrated and to ensure that you can eat nutritiously, as this can help keep energy levels up and allow the body to better tolerate any possible treatment-related side effects.

I hope you can enjoy the wedding! Congratulations to your grandson!

Please let us know what you end up doing and how it goes!

Thinking of you and wishing you the best.

    Warmly,
    Margot, LungCancer.net Team

    1. Hello jigsawlady - Congratulations on a wedding in your family. That should put a smile on your face. I have driven 500 miles before so we went straight thru. I did keep a bag ( a huge bulk bag ) of peppermints. It helped to avoid car sickness. I hope it works for you.
      Sincerely,

      1. Hi Jennifer - Nice name....that's my granddaughters name also....thank you for the advice. I'm still debating whether to make the trip or not. It will be a very busy time and I wouldn't get my naps or stay on my schedule for my meds. A lot to think about. Thanks again for the advice. I'll let you know what I decide.

        Sincerely,

        Diane (aka - jigsawlady)
