Lung cancer surgery at 80

I had my lower right lobe removed in March it was cancer. Said they got it all. Lymph nodes all clear. Now a little over a year and they say I have a mass in left lung. Have scan in a week. Scared.

I had my middle rt lobe removed a yr ago, 15 nodules removed biopsy before removal were negative after removed pathology showed all were cancer. I know have 2 small ones in lower rt.and a small one in upper left they are not worrying about those as they grow slow, but 6 months ago they found larger one in my right upper lobe. I’m having another scan in Dec. And then I will make a decision as to what to do about it. I understand your fear I guess we live with it everyday and if your like me no one understands it. Prayers for you. It’s a rough surgery I don’t want to go through it again.

Thank you I don’t think my 82 year old body could take it again.

I hear you … I’m 20 years older now, recuperation will take longer than when in my 40’s! Thinking of you and wishing for good news with your next scan. Best, Alisa

@kellyleefitz2319 I’m in a similar situation now. I had my right middle lobe removed 19 years ago, been following nodules since, and one is acting up a bit, so we are watching it very closely. I get re-scanned next month. All the best, Alisa

I’m sorry to hear they found a mass and understand the fear all too well. There have been many advances in treatment, even in the last year alone. Please update us after your scan if you’d like and, of course, reach out any time. We are here for you. Warmly, Alisa
