Will I be able to drive while getting radiation?

The hospital is an hour away and I hate asking anyone to take off from work for 3 weeks to chauffeur me around.

  1. Hi ,

Thanks so much for reaching out - in addition to comments from community members who may have been in similar situations or had radiation, we always recommend checking in with your doctor or healthcare team, or the staff at the hospital! As everyone may react differently, it might be hard to know before you begin.

We did put this question on social media to our community as well, and got this response, which you may find helpful!

"I drove back and forth to all of my radiation appointments, about 1/2 hour away. For me, no serious side effects. Perhaps you should arrange the first few appointments with someone who can drive until you know how your body will react."

Hope this helps! More on radiation can be found here too: https://lungcancer.net/treatment/radiation-therapy/
