Living with a mental health condition poses numerous challenges. From coping, finding treatment, the impact on family and social relationships, negative effects on work or ability to work, the stigma, and the day-in-day-out difficulties, mental illness can require numerous resources for those who have it. Those with a physical health condition frequently have higher rates of mental health conditions, further complicating life. The following lists online and phone resources.
Gateways to mental health education and resources
- The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a grassroots mental health organization that educates, advocates, listens, and leads. You can find resources, direction to support groups, a crisis helpline, community affiliates, and much more on their site.

- Mental Health America is a community based non-profit organization with programs for promoting mental health, educational resources, online screening tools among many other resources.
U.S. Government resources:
- The National Institute of Mental Health, in addition to being the source of funding for mental health research, is also a source of education and provider directories. They provide a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week crisis hotline and suicide prevention lifeline.

- The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a resource with behavioral health treatment locators in your area, as well information related to treatment. SAMHSA also leads numerous programs, campaigns, and assistance and resources centers.
- MentalHealth.gov is a gateway to information and resources for mental health treatment and education. The site offers specific information broken down by mental health disorder (ex. Depression, Bipolar, Eating Disorder) and also includes a treatment locator and resources on how to get help.
- Stopbullying.gov is a resource for reporting, responding, preventing, and education on bullying. It offers resources for parents, educators, communities, teens, and kids.
- The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a network of crisis centers. In addition to the suicide prevention lifeline, the website offers specific resources for youth, disaster survivors, Native Americans, Veterans, Loss Survivors LGBTQ+, attempt survivors, deaf and hard of hearing, and ayuda in español.

Affirming services for LGBQT+:
- The Trevor Project offer a national, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week suicide prevention hotline for LGBQT individuals. They also offer chat and text messaging services with live help to LGBQT youth.
