"I was diagnosed with breast cancer August 2019 and my primary care doc sent me off to Texas Oncology to begin the task of seeing oncologist, testing etc. and preparing for a lumpectomy. During all this, in November 2019 they found a separate cancer...my lung...Surgery for my breast was put on hold and I began again with tests, scans, etc. and started targeted radiation therapy on the lung in Feb 2020. In April 2020 it was time to get back to the breast cancer planning and I had my surgery in June followed by 6 more weeks of daily radiation. Since that time I go for scans every 3 months and am told each time nothing has changed but it has. I feel that I have aged 10 years in a years time. I am on oxygen, my skin is dry and wrinkled, my hair has thinned, and I can't do any of the things I used to do. With all this said I am determined not to get depressed. I try to stay strong mentally and I remind myself that there are others with bigger challenges then my own. Each day is a blessing and no matter how bad if we try we can find good in it. To everyone, I wish you love, peace, happiness and the strength to carry on."
