Ronda Beaty
"Hello everyone. In late December I began having new complications. I ended up in the hospital unable to swallow. Emergency radiation – 5 rounds in my bronchial tubes and esophagus. I start Taxotere 3-12 and am looking for positive feedback. I know the downside."
" I am a 54 year old mother of 2 grown daughters, 27 and 24. I was diagnosed 1-11-2-17, Stage IV NSCLC with metastasis to adrenal glands, lymph nodes and brain. I have had 3 successful Gamma Knife treatments for brain. Currently a tine (3mm) lesion in my brain that was targeted via Gamma Knife this past May. I will get a new scan in January, and expect it to be gone as all previous lesions (I had over 20 of them treated first Gamma Knife). I started with carboplatin and did not respond, so we went to Opdivo and radiation. That kept things at bay or a while, but am now on Ketruda with palliative radiation when needed. Making a long story short, my adrenal glands were clear on last CT (1st week of November). Everything else has shrunk or not grown. In the past few weeks, all of a sudden, I have begun to feel like my pre-cancer self! I think the Keytruda is doing something positive! I am grateful to be alive! I live EVERY day as if it is possibly my last. Cancer woke me up and taught me the importance of appreciating life and making the best of every minute. I've completed two buckets lists! I am now confident enough to start on a third."
Very happy for you. I am having my 6 month scan and hope for good news. Sure don’t feel like my pre cancerous self! That will be a happy day!

I am on TAPUR program at Inova Schar cancer center in Virginia. I was diagnosed 4 2017 with mers to my left femur. I had titanium rod in my femur. I received 6 infusions carboplatin +alimta then another 6 with alimta only.
Tumor in my right upper lobe of lung grew back and after genomic molecular test of frozen biopsy. They found cell mutation of BRCA2 breast cancer. Am on targeted treatment taking Olaparib since August 2018 until now. Tumor is stable or shrinking slowly.
I haven't felt that way in three years. It's possible! Hang in there!
Key words - Tumor is stable or shrinking slowly! Keep fighting.
Hi @madmeg, it's great to hear you are feeling more like yourself! I'm a 19 year Stage 3 survivor, single mother of twin boys (men now), nice to meet you! Warmly, Alisa, LungCancer.net Team
Thinking of you with your upcoming scans @linfitness!
@almaconty, great to hear the tumor is stable and possibly shrinking! As @madmeg said, those are key words! All the best, Alisa
Thanks
