My Short Bucket List

A bucket list is defined as a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. When I was diagnosed with lung cancer I had mentioned that I wanted to start a bucket list and I received some unpleasant feedback. It was thought that if I started a bucket list then it meant that I thought that I was dying. I do not think that is the case and you can have a bucket list at any point in your life, mine just happened to be after I was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Life is about experiences

When I was diagnosed, I was 30 years old. I had experienced some things but there are far more things that I would like to experience. Three years into my diagnosis my twin sister and I traveled a lot. We went on two cruises and visited our sister in Texas. We also got to see our favorite artist perform a benefit show for young adult cancer survivors in Colorado.

It wasn’t until just recently that I put my list onto paper. I have titled it 40 before 40. I am 38 now so I have 2 years to get thru a list of 40 items. I have crossed off a few things already! A lot of them involve traveling and because I work full time it may be a bit hard to get to those.
