Understanding treatment and stage of NSCLC

I currently am being treated for a reoccurrence of lung cancer after 10 years. This time in my right lung and inoperable due to removal of lower left 10 years ago. After undergoing radiation and then chemo/ immunotherapy the initial tumor has shrunk slightly and there is a new spot in the left now. On immunotherapy now and don’t understand prognosis.

  1. It can be very disappointing when a reoccurrence of cancer shows up no matter how it shows up. You can be left to feel like what could if anything have been done differently... The one thing all patients must try and incorporate and that is a full and transparent conversation with our doctors. It can be stressful depending on the team, or it can be enlightening enough to fully understand the condition and what the various stages and hiccups mean. It may be a good idea on your next visit to lay your questions down and have your doctor re-explain everything that is going on, enough that you're comfortable with where you stand with treatment and what the prognosis means in layman's terms. Unfortunately, the process takes turns, and being properly aware and reassured is key. Hoping you get the clear answers you need to fully understand what it all means and ensured your team includes your thoughts in the discussions moving forward. Wishing you the very best!
