Radiation

I've been going through radiation now for 12 days I've got cancer on the outside of my skin. It's over under my left breast but closer to my lip notes it's kinda in between the two places. I started having back problems on back rib cage some call it, it feels like somebody is pressing on it. And it's interfering with my breathing to, and I'm on oxygen on top of that. I'm just having a hard figuring out what's causing my back problems that I didn't have before. Thank you for listening to me.

  1. i hear your frustration with the pain and breathing difficulties. Have you spoken with your doctor about these concerns? What type of cancer do you have? Hopefully you will find out the cause of the issues soon and find relief. We are here to support and listen anytime. Warmly, Sandy (lungcancer.net patient leader)

    1. thank you Sandy,

  2. I am sorry to hear you are having such challenges with breathing and back pain. Does lymph nodes in the mediastinum area sound familiar, is that what you mean by in between two places? Have you reported these symptoms to your medical care team? Perhaps they can refer you to palliative care, I hear they are great working with patients on pain relief. I'm attaching article below that I hope helps. Please update us and let us know how you are doing, we are here for you. All the best, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader

    1. Thank you Alisa my radiation treatments are over, over by my breast area is so sun burned now. I've got gel cream to help with all the burn areas. I'm really red in several areas, hopefully it will all heal soon. My cancer spot shrank down pretty small, it's still all there but I'm hoping it will all dissolve and go away in next few weeks.

      1. I'm sorry for the areas that are burnt, I hope they heal quickly and smoothly. I didn't have radiation, I had chemo, but my mother had both and she also got burnt from the radiation, but it did heal with time. It is great to hear the spot shrank, I too hope it continues to shrink until it is gone. Are you through with your treatments now and just being scanned as followup? ~ Alisa

      2. Side effects can vary, but I hope your back problems work themselves out. Please advise your doctor of any new symptoms, especially those you didn't have prior to treatment. Radiation burns eventually go away, I'm sure your team can suggest otc remedies to try. Wishing you the very best!
