I have questions

I'm a 69 year old female. I am 16 years post menopausal. I recently went to the E.R. for left flank pain. I did not know why. They did a CT scan and couldn't find the reason for my pain. However. They did discover a 3.1cm cyst on my right ovary. A 4 cm cyst on my right adrenal gland and multiple pulmonary nodules 5mm in both lower lobes of my lungs. I'm waiting for the CT of my lungs at the end of the month. My left neck. Shoulder and side have been aching. No relief from Tylenol or heating pad.
Does anybody have any ideas or have you experienced anything close. This waiting to find out is driving me nuts. Thank you and bless all of you.

  1. I am sorry to hear you are in pain. I don't have personal experience with these symptoms, mine were different, but good to know you will have a CT scan of the lungs. Did your doctor mention a PET scan? I find the waiting the most challenging. Please feel free to update us and know that this community is here for you and for each other, I'm glad you found us! Warmly, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader

    1. Thank you. No one has mentioned pet scan yet, just in a holding pattern. It's the waiting that gets me. I have a lung ct next week. I'm hoping that will give an answer one way or the other.

      1. I hear you about the waiting. Many of us call it scanxiety, but the CT will give you information. When was your previous scan that detected the nodules?

    2. Thank you. I had a ct scan a little over a year ago for an unrelated issue. There was nothing noted then. I had a scan 3 weeks ago for side pain. That when the ct showed, multiple nodules in both lower lobes. They are 0.5cm the Radiologist suggested a more detailed ct scan do to the large amount of nodules. His words. I'm hoping this next scan will give me some kind of definitive answer one way or the other. My thing is I'm not so concerned what it is. I just want to know. I'm a very impatient person. Thanks for the reply.

      1. They also found a 4cm cyst on my right adrenal gland and a 3.1 cyst on my right ovary. Makes me wonder if they are all related. I figure one of these little buggers is going to give me some kind of an issue.

        1. Thankfully, it sounds like you are being monitored closely. I too am a nodually person, being monitored closely, after two diagnoses, 21 years apart. Hopefully you will have more definitive answers after your appointment, will be looking or updates! All the best, Alisa

        2. Well I hope this week gives further clarity on the situation. Yes, many people have those nodule scenarios all over the place; unfortunately, you still have to be on top of if it's a problem or isn't it a problem. I'm hoping that it's not an issue. Let us know how everything turns out this week. Best wishes!
