Has anyone had a normal chest x-ray before diagnosis?

Anyone had a normal chest x-ray only to be diagnosed with lung cancer a short time later?

  1. It’s not uncommon to have a normal X-ray before diagnosis. Is mass must reach a certain size before it will show on an X-ray. So sorry this has happened to you or someone you know.

    1. Hi Denvercook, When you say before, I assume you meant "previously." I had always had clear x-rays until I started having symptoms. Then x-ray came back indicating cancer. If I misinterpreted this, please let me know. Jennifer, lungcancer.net team member

      1. Must take a CT Scan to find out the truth that you have cancer. Mine was Lung Cancer. An x-ray won’t pick up the tumors or nodules. The more active you are for your health, the better off you’ll be.

        1. For past 5 years I have had CT scans for lung cancer no cancer or nodules ever showed up until this year

          1. I'm sorry you had nodules show up, the same thing happened to me after about 15 years. Are you in a screening program and did the doctors tell you your next steps - continue to watch them, biopsy, PET Scan? Please feel free to share, we are here to support each other. Wishing you the best, Alisa, Lung Cancer Team Patient Leader
